These girls may look familiar to you. I have been photographing them all since the eldest was just 9 months old. Their personalities are so different and they seem to change every year. This year, mom decided to come in a little earlier in the year to take her annual portraits. We took advantage of the warm weather and clear skies here on Whidbey. The youngest little one did what her instincts told her to do once she saw trails and freedom – she ran. Her sisters tried to grab and hold her, but I told them to just let her go. I’ve been photographing children for the last 11 years so I always have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to runaways. Soon after I gave the older girls instructions on what to do, the littlest one ran right over and got in the frame as needed.
We ended the evening playing the sand, climbing trees, throwing rocks into the water, running back and forth and the girls also dipped their feet in the water. We watched the sun set together and just took in all the beauty that our island has to offer. It was a great evening!
