She was a little shy at first. The last time I had seen her was about 6 months ago for a modeling session. She stuck to mom for a bit in the beginning. But as the chairs came out, she began to explore and play. When it was time for cake, mom let me know that she probably wouldn’t dig in. They had celebrated earlier in the month and she didn’t really like it. Honestly, this happens a lot. And it’s usually me giving the “they-might-not-be-into-it” disclaimer when preparing for the cake portion of the session. So, I made sure to hit my goal of at least 5 of her with the cake. Well, to mom’s surprise, she LOVED that cake! She started picking at it bit by bit and then she went in without hands. It was perfect, it was timeless and it was all her! And my favorite part was seeing the joy on mom’s face as she watched her baby girl smile and giggle with cake and frosting all over her face.

I have had the honor of photographing this family once a year since the year I opened. It’s been such a joy to see them grow in numbers as well as in age. They are the sweetest kids and their sessions are always full of silliness, yet ease. Two years ago, I had to miss their annual session due to me almost breaking my ankle. I ended up with a sever strain that left me in crutches and in physical therapy for a few months. After that, I had to start working very slowly to regain the confidence in moving up, down back & forth. So, I was unable to do a lot of sessions that year. And they were unable to give their families portraits for Christmas. (We did make up for it the following year). And this year, we are ahead of schedule! No one will miss out on portraits this year! We’ve got you covered! To see one more image from this session, click HERE to view it on my Facebook page.
As time has gone by, little K has become much more comfy in front of the camera. Her personality and smiles keep getting bigger and bigger. She was still getting the hang of sitting up on her own, but we were able to catch a few of her keeping her balance with her hands. And she got better at it by the end of the session. She was super excited when Daddy help her hands and she was able to stand up. Wonder if she will skip the crawling and go straight to running… I mean, walking. 😉 Can’t wait to see her again to find out! He came in with his bright eyes and happy-go-lucky smile! And it just stuck with him through the entire session. He just keeps getting cuter and cuter! And I love his little bow tie. He will be strutting that at his remaining sessions as well. Can’t wait to see him again in a few months! I never get tired of hanging out with these adorable little ones!
