I always get asked why I don’t include a CD of images with my sessions. It’s simple, I believe images should be on your walls, in your albums – PRINTED. This is something I believed in BEFORE I began my business. This is something that is personal to me. Digital media is always changing, remember the floppy disk?
I remember 12 years ago when we moved into our home (it was a new back then) and our computer decided to crash. At the time, I only had one child who was jus about 9 months old and all of those new “digital images” were gone. All I had was my good ol’ film negatives and printed images. And I am SO GLAD that I had them. Since then I make it a point to take pictures of my family, choose my favorites and get them printed ASAP. I have frames on my walls, I have albums in my closets. And when my kids get older and have their kids, we will all get to look back at these photos. And they will be passed on and on just like photos of me when I was a child.
I know it’s the trend these days to give digital images at a low price or freely. And that’s fine for those who choose to do that with their business. But that’s not for me. I love printed portraits and I take pride in the fact the quality of my prints goes side by side with the quality of the images themselves. Because I do want your children, you grandchildren and their children and their grandchildren to be able to look back your printed portraits and be able to see your faces, your smiles, your eyes… not a blurred photograph faded because it was printed at home or discolored because the lab chosen (or a home printer) had a bad calibration or messed up ink.
Yes I do offer digital images, they are on the menu. And even with those I give extra care to make sure you know what they should look like when printed. I believe photography is an investment not only for today but for the future.
Thank you to all of you (my clients) who have trusted me over and over again to capture today’s precious moments that will eventually become cherished memories in the future.
